How Decorative Concrete Businesses Can Keep Their Facebook Fans Lovin' And Not Leavin'
Working your options on Facebook and other social media is an economical option for marketing your decorative concrete business. Creating the killer fan page for Facebook and attracting your first 25 fans is only the beginning. The next step is what makes the page more than just another pretty face! Those fans will do you the most good when they want to return to your page to learn more about your decorative concrete engraving business and what you have to offer them. They can't do any good for you until you are doing good for them. Your content updates can show when you specialize in a particular niche of decorative concrete:
- stamping,
- overlays,
- engraving.
If you cover all of these niches and do the flatwork, you will have other information to share.
There are many ways to keep them lovin' you. Right up front, write TO them, not AT them; be real. Adding short posts with information about your product on a regular basis is essential. Give your fan a question. Asking dumb stuff is going to break your heart; ask questions that apply to your readers. Starting a Discussion can give you more foundation to build your questions on. Your fans can get in on the discussion and keep the conversation rolling, rather like a thread on a forum. Only this is friendlier. Questions or discussions will work better with the "YOU" and "YOUR" angles. Ask "What about You?" "Did you meet your sweetheart at the building center?" Be creative and fun. The option to have discussions and exchanges is very under-used on most fan pages. This would be a good place for some heated discussion, while our typical updates seem to attract the softer comments, 'likes' and 'shares'.
Run a few tests to see if your fan base is most active on Facebook in the morning or at night. If you post your update when they are online or soon will be, your information is less likely to get lost in the news feed. I have over 450 friends and fan pages dropping profound comments onto me. There are many little updates that I don't see. I must go to the pages and profiles that I want to keep up with. I'm not unusual; your fans are going to have similar conditions. As you become the place to play, they come by your fan page right off. They don't wait to catch your update in the news feed. THAT IS THE LIFE!!
Because I am a control freak, I don't let fans start a conversation at my page. You might feel differently and want to let them post freely with their questions and frustrations. You have the power to make that choice. Pay attention to the comments because you don't want to miss any that are discussing issues about the work you do with concrete stamping or engraving or other options. You have an obligation to your business to do your part for your online reputation management. If a customer feels strongly enough to leave you a comment, either positive or negative, you can use your responses to make issues better for them. Remember, these pages are public to some degree. If they aren't on the search engines immediately, they soon will be. They are surely wide open to the Facebook community which isn't small by any measure.
When fans respond, do your best to respond promptly. Prompt as in QUICK and SPEEDY. When you get behind, you can write a blog post or note that answers the top questions. Your update could include a coupon, information or sample of your product. Add a code word and send them out to your website or to your door to collect. Concrete presents a challenge for small samples, but maybe you can joint venture with a customer who has a product. What would your fans say if you gave a few coupons for coffee at that little cafe where you engraved the floor or put stamps into the new concrete of a fresh sidewalk?
Even though you eat, drink and sleep concrete, your updates do not have to be totally CONCRETE. Be creative and use a quote you like sometimes. Back to back famous quotes is boring. plain and simple. When you see something inspiring or funny, posting it with your own take on the topic is a way to get a positive discussion going.
