Learning disability cases are also a problem amongst many nations from around the world. And according to previous studies, an alarming 15 million American people have been found out with certain types of learning disabilities. What's worse is that a large chunk of the said population belongs to college students from various universities throughout the country. As the case grew each year, the number of colleges and universities implementing special education system has been growing year after year. But then, not all of these special ed schools are following the same policies and regulations that make them equally competitive and dependable in rendering high quality special education for their learning impaired students.
Provided below is a list of known top ranked special ed schools best known for their quality of special education. This list will serve as dependable guideline for parents to know which school best fits for their students.
a) Peabody College (Vanderbilt University) – is among the best options for special education. It offers a wide range of academically assistive programs it comprises of several research labs and centers that motivate the students more into studying and great tools for special students to hasten their academic skills. To date, the school accommodates 779 enrollees at a tuition rate of $1, 568 per unit.
b) University of Kansas – is also best known for its multifunctional and engaging special education programs. f) Curry School of Education (University of Virginia) – with a growing number of special students enrolled in their programs, the school tries to maintain a manageable student to faculty ratio of 3.1:1. With 722 students, Curry School of Education offers its special programs at $10, 452 to $20, 010.
g) University of Illinois – also with higher population of students with learning disabilities compared to others, the school tries to maintain a favorable student to faculty ratio of 4.2:1. In-State enrollees can apply for special education programs at $9, 318 while Out-of-State students are charged with $22, 584.
h) University of Minnesota – desiring applicants can enroll for the school's special programs at any time of the year. The school's special programs are empowered by its 190 full time faculty members and staff which helps maintain a fully functional student to faculty ratio of 3.9:1 of its 2, 497 students. It offers its programs at $11, 212 to $18, 310.
i) University of Washington – every enrollee at University of Washington benefits from a very wide variety of choices of special education programs which is mostly hands-on experiences to help provide better learning catalysts for its special students. It offers all of its programs at a tuition range of $10, 660 to $24, 000. The school currently has a population of 1, 106 special students.
j) University of Wisconsin – with its 10 departments as foundations of its special education system, the university offers only the best and high quality academically assistive programs through its top caliber faculty. Its present population is 1, 026 and a tuition rate of $10, 518 to $25, 072.
