Who are the three best guitar pickers
There is a good bit of question and clash with respect to this thing. There are a number of names both old and present-day that could be added. Under no circumstances do I aim any lack of respect to those not included in this short list of Superb Acoustic players. Likely there could quite possibly be some other that ought to have add - on in this most appropriate list but it can rarely be announced that these three should be brushed off. The solitary name that just about all Acoustic guitar picking enthuasist will approve with is Doc Watson. Doc is a guru flat-picker and a finger-picker whose capabilities are well known. Doc is almost certainly one of the most commanding acoustic guitar players in folk and classic bluegrass music since the 1960's.
Scaggs, Watson and Scruggs worked as the Three Pickers in a North Carolina Show for PBS. Doc and Earl are both from North Carolina and are only a year apart in age. In the tv show Doc played the Acoustic Guitar, Earl Scruggs anchored the banjo and Ricky Scaggs completed the music with the mandolin. Allison Krauss joined in on the fiddle on a couple of numbers as well.
Clarence White's Acoustic Guitar stardom came with the Kentucky Colonels. Clarence would soon after find recognized fame with the Byrds but still preserved his lineage vocalizing the bluegrass gospel standard "Farther Along" on the Byrds ending album of the same name. Disastrously, Clarence White's life was cut short July 15, 1973 when he was struck and killed by a drunk driver.
It would be out of the question to develop a list of very good pickers and not enter Tony Rice. Tony has correctly been called "the greatest innovator in acoustic flatpicked guitar since Clarence White." His weight in acoustic guitar music spans the spectrum of pure bluegrass to acoustic jazz music even to folk. Tony was greatly influenced by both Clarence White and Doc Watson. Rounder Records said that "Tony was the first instrumentalist to seize upon the innovations of guitarists like Clarence White and Doc Watson and propel them into new flights of rhythmic, harmonic and textural virtuosity."
The victories and appreciation of Doc, Clarence and Tony are various and give authority to their inclusion in this list of the top three greatest guitar pickers of all time. When you think of the Acoustic Guitar the one name that dominates them all is Doc Watson. Because of his days with the Byrds Clarence White may not speedily come to mind but in his younger years with the Kentucky Colonels Clarence forever covered his name as one of the first pickers. Being encouraged by both Doc and Clarence and taking a look at his talents and feats Tony Rice is well deserving of inclusion in this list of the three most important acoustic guitar player
